Terms of Use
Last updated: October 6, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Salonat (“Salonat”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) governing your access to and use of the Salonat mobile application, websites, and related services (the “Service”). Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account (including by checking that you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy where the app asks you to), downloading or using the app, visiting a Salonat web page, or otherwise accessing the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) and able to form a binding contract. Salonat is not directed to children under 18. Registration requires a birthdate and is technically blocked, both on your device and on our servers, if you are under 18.
- You must not be barred from using the Service under applicable law or have had a Salonat account suspended or terminated for violations of these Terms.
- You represent that information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it current.
- You will not allow minors to use your account or submit their personal information through your salon.
3. Accounts and security
- Registration: creating an account typically requires a phone number, password, birthdate, name, public handle, and profile information (such as photos). Email may be optional depending on the signup path.
- One person, one account: do not create multiple accounts to evade bans, harass others, or manipulate ratings, knocks, matches, or Salon Score / Salon Coins.
- Credentials: keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account until you notify us of unauthorized access and we have a reasonable opportunity to respond.
- No impersonation: do not pretend to be another person, misstate your identity, or use someone else’s photos or contact details without permission.
- Inviting others: when you add participants or send WhatsApp messages through Salonat, you confirm you have a lawful basis to contact them and that the information you provide (name, phone, descriptions) is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
4. The Service
Salonat is a friends-first social networking and matchmaking platform. Hosts run private salons, invite people they trust, and may introduce them through Mix & Match. Participants may use icebreakers, chat, optional deeper flows (including Mashroobat), profiles, public salon pages, Daily Salon activities, avatar customization, 3D Salon Space (including furnishing), and related community features. Features change over time; we may add, remove, or limit functionality for maintenance, safety, legal compliance, or product reasons.
The Service may include realtime features, WhatsApp notifications when enabled, push notifications, user-generated content (profiles, photos, messages, voice notes, salon layouts, public salon presence, and similar), and real, paid virtual items purchased through the App Store or Google Play, such as Salon Coins. Beta or TestFlight builds may behave differently from production.
5. User conduct & content rules
You are solely responsible for your conduct and for content you post, upload, share, or display on the Service (“UGC”), including profile information, photos, messages, voice notes, icebreaker responses, salon descriptions, public salon content, and avatar or room customizations.
You agree not to engage in abusive behavior or to create, upload, or share content that is objectionable, illegal, or harmful, including content or conduct that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens, stalks, intimidates, or targets any person;
- includes hate speech, violent threats, or content that demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics;
- is pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexually exploitative; or involves sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, or exploitation of any person;
- is graphic violence, glorifies self-harm, or encourages dangerous activities;
- doxes or publishes another person’s private contact, location, or address information without consent;
- impersonates others or uses deceptive, fake, or misleading profiles or photos;
- is spam, phishing, scam-related, or solicits money, personal data, or off-platform payments from other users without our permission;
- violates another person’s intellectual property, publicity, or privacy rights;
- scrapes, crawls, or reverse engineers the Service except where law expressly permits; uploads malware; attempts unauthorized access; or interferes with servers or networks;
- uses bots or automation to create accounts, knocks, ratings, matches, messages, or coin activity without authorization;
- uses the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of export or sanctions laws.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to objectionable content and abusive users. Violations may result in content removal and account action under Section 14 (Termination), including permanent bans for serious or repeated violations.
Reporting and blocking (Apple Guideline 1.2 / UGC safety): if you encounter abusive behavior or objectionable content from anyone — including people inside your own salon circle or a match — you can use the in-app Report and Block tools, or email hello@salonat.co with specifics. You will find them in these places:
- Profiles and public salon pages: the three-dot menu at the top of a person’s salon page — Report or Block.
- Salon chat: the flag icon in the chat header reports or blocks that person; press and hold one of their messages to report that specific message.
- Knocks: each knock notification has a Report / Block option next to Accept and Decline.
- Match (icebreaker) chat: the flag icon in the chat header reports or blocks your match; press and hold one of their messages to report that specific message.
- Daily Salon answers and comments: the “•••” menu next to another person’s answer or comment lets you Report it (use the person’s salon page to Block them).
When you block someone, they can no longer message you or knock on your salon, you stop seeing their messages and Daily Salon answers and comments, and you stop seeing each other in search and on public salon pages. We aim to review good-faith reports of objectionable content promptly, consistent with Apple’s App Review Guideline 1.2, and may remove content, warn, suspend, or permanently delete accounts.
6. User-generated content — your license to us
You retain ownership of UGC you submit—including photos, text, voice notes, avatar customization, salon layouts, messages, and notes—subject to third-party rights.
By submitting UGC, you grant Salonat a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for technical formatting), display, perform, distribute, and otherwise use your UGC only as needed to operate, improve, promote, and secure the Service, including showing your profile or salon to the audiences described in our Privacy Policy and enforcing these Terms.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your UGC does not violate law or third-party rights (including copyright). Do not upload content you do not own or lack permission to use.
7. Content moderation
We may—but have no obligation to—monitor UGC or conduct. We may remove or restrict content, disable features, limit visibility of public salons, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve evidence, and cooperate with law enforcement without prior notice when we believe it necessary for safety, legal compliance, App Store / Play policy compliance, or protection of Salonat and users.
Moderation decisions are in our reasonable discretion. Filtering tools and human review may be imperfect; lack of immediate action does not waive our rights to enforce these Terms later.
8. Matchmaking and introductions
- Introductions are initiated by people you know (salon hosts and participants), not by Salonat as a professional matchmaking agency, dating service guaranteeing outcomes, or background-check provider.
- We do not guarantee compatibility, relationship outcomes, friendship, professional results, marriage, safety of other users, or any particular online or offline result.
- Descriptions, preferences, photos, and statements you or hosts enter may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated; we do not independently verify every statement, and we do not run criminal background checks on users.
- You choose whether to accept matches, continue icebreakers, reveal identity, chat, or meet offline. You may decline at any stage supported by the product.
- Salonat is not a party to any relationship, introduction, or interaction between users. Any decisions you make based on matches, profiles, messages, or public salon visits are yours alone.
9. Safety and offline interactions — disclaimer
Your interactions with other users are solely your responsibility. This includes interactions inside private salons, icebreakers, chat, Mashroobat, public salons, knocks, and any offline meetings that result from using the Service.
Salonat does not conduct criminal background checks, comprehensive identity verification, or safety screening of users beyond limited product features (for example phone-verified, age-gated accounts and moderation tools). We do not guarantee that users are who they claim to be, that content is accurate, or that other users will behave safely or lawfully.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Salonat is not liable for the conduct of users (online or offline), for matches or introductions arranged through the Service, for user-generated content, or for disputes between users. Use common sense: meet in public places, tell a friend where you are going, arrange your own transportation, and stop contact if you feel unsafe. Nothing in the Service replaces emergency services—call local authorities if you are in danger.
Screenshots and sharing outside Salonat are outside our control. Do not share sensitive information in chats unless you trust the recipient.
10. Intellectual property
Salonat’s name, logos, app design, software, default avatar assets, catalog furniture, and documentation are owned by Salonat or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights expressly granted in these Terms, we reserve all rights.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our software or branding without written permission.
11. Virtual items and Salon Coins
You may customize avatars and salon layouts using assets we provide. You do not acquire ownership of Salonat’s underlying 3D models, textures, or catalog items—only a limited, revocable right to use them within the Service.
Salon Coins are a virtual currency you can purchase (see Payments) and spend on cosmetic items such as furniture and Salon Space customization. Salon Coins have no cash value outside the Service, are not redeemable for real money, are non-transferable except as we allow, and may be modified, rebalanced, or discontinued. Unauthorized trading, farming, or fraud involving coins or virtual items is prohibited and may result in account termination and forfeiture of balances where permitted by law and platform rules.
12. Payments and in-app purchases
Salon Coin purchases are real, paid transactions processed exclusively through the Apple App Store or Google Play billing systems — never through a credit-card form inside Salonat. When you buy Salon Coins, Apple or Google charges your payment method on file with them, and our server verifies your purchase receipt or purchase token directly with Apple or Google before crediting your account. We do not receive, process, or store your card number or other payment credentials. Those purchases are also governed by Apple’s or Google’s own terms, billing policies, and refund processes. Manage subscriptions or request refunds through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
Refunds. Unless law or the applicable platform requires otherwise, fees are generally non-refundable once a Salon Coin purchase is completed and coins are credited to your account, because the digital content is delivered and, typically, consumed immediately upon your request — for example, under the EU/UK Consumer Rights framework, you generally lose the right to withdraw from a digital-content purchase once you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge you lose your withdrawal right. In Egypt, distance-sale purchases are ordinarily subject to a 14-day withdrawal right under Law No. 181 of 2018 on Consumer Protection; consistent with that law and its exceptions for digital content supplied with your prior consent to immediate performance, in-game consumable currency that has already been spent is not eligible for a refund from us, though Apple’s and Google’s own refund policies may still apply to your purchase. Nothing here limits any non-waivable refund or cancellation right you have under the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence.
13. Third-party services and links
The Service may link to third-party sites or use third-party providers, including Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform (messaging), Apple App Store and Google Play (in-app purchase billing and, for Google, push notification relay via Firebase Cloud Messaging), Expo (push notifications and app builds), Sentry (crash reporting), and cloud hosting, storage, and analytics providers. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices (see our Privacy Policy — Sharing information for the full list). Salonat is not responsible for third-party content, conduct, or service availability.
14. Account suspension and termination
Your rights: you may stop using the Service at any time. You may request account deletion in the app (where available) or by emailing hello@salonat.co; this immediately deactivates your account and hides it from other users. We will process full data erasure as our systems and legal obligations allow — see Privacy Policy — Data retention for the current state of that process and expected timing.
Our rights: we may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice where we believe reasonably necessary, warn, restrict, suspend, disable, or permanently delete your account (and associated content or virtual balances where permitted) if you:
- violate these Terms or our Privacy Policy;
- post or engage in objectionable, abusive, illegal, or harmful content or conduct;
- create risk or legal exposure for Salonat, other users, or third parties;
- attempt to circumvent bans, blocks, moderation, or security controls;
- or if we discontinue or restructure the Service.
Suspension or termination for violations does not entitle you to a refund except where required by law or by Apple / Google billing rules. Provisions that by their nature should survive (licenses already exercised for shared UGC, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, dispute terms) will survive termination.
15. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT MATCHES, INTRODUCTIONS, PROFILES, OR OTHER USERS WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers; in those cases, disclaimers apply to the fullest extent permitted.
16. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SALONAT AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE—INCLUDING USER INTERACTIONS, MATCHES, INTRODUCTIONS, UGC, PUBLIC SALONS, OR OFFLINE MEETINGS—EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID SALONAT FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (USD $50), EXCEPT WHERE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW SUCH A CAP (FOR EXAMPLE CERTAIN MANDATORY CONSUMER RIGHTS).
NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY OUR NEGLIGENCE WHERE SUCH LIMITATION IS PROHIBITED, OR FOR FRAUD OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT.
17. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Salonat and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your UGC, your interactions with other users (including offline meetings and matches), your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights—except to the extent caused by Salonat’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection or data protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.
Except where prohibited, you agree that disputes will be brought in the competent courts located in Cairo, Egypt, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Before filing suit, you agree to contact us at hello@salonat.co and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.
EU/UK consumers: you may have mandatory rights to bring claims in your country of residence, and you may be entitled to use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform or an equivalent consumer ADR body where applicable; nothing here limits those rights.
US consumers: nothing in this section limits any non-waivable right you have under the consumer protection law of your state of residence.
19. Copyright and takedown notices
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@salonat.co including: (1) identification of the copyrighted work; (2) identification of the material and where it appears; (3) your contact information; (4) a statement of good-faith belief; (5) a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act; and (6) your physical or electronic signature. We may remove or disable access to alleged infringing material and terminate repeat infringers where appropriate.
20. Apple App Store and Google Play
If you download the app from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Salonat, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google have no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app except as required by their standard rules. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple and Google have no warranty obligation for the app; any claims relating to the app are our responsibility as between you and us, subject to these Terms. You represent that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on a U.S. Government prohibited or restricted parties list (as applicable to App Store distribution).
21. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required (for example in-app or by email). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where law requires explicit consent.
