What is Salonat?
Salonat is a social app designed to connect you with your friends’ friends and turn separate social circles into one extended happy social world weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I guess that’s the point but of course that’s too much work! We can’t do that, maybe not right now. Maybe in 2037 :)
So what Salonat does right now is this: it helps friends introduce their friends (that maybe don’t know each other and they believe might be a good fit) to each other.
And that sometimes sometimeees as our name suggests leads to a romantic match and they get to go on a digital blind date (I guess you could call it that…). And sometimes it’s just a very very friendly platonic match because that’s very lovely too! We even have professional matches for when you think that if two of your friends met they wouldn’t stop talking about work.
The point we are trying to make is…. our friends need to show up more for us and us, as their friends, need to show up more for them and everyone needs to start setting up everyone with each other. Press 4 Motivation
Salonat is a friends-first social app designed to expand people’s social circles through trusted introductions. Users create and join private salons, invite-only 3D living rooms made up of friends and acquaintances, where meaningful connections are facilitated by people who already know them.
Within each salon, the salon owner and salon members can introduce or match people for romantic, platonic, or professional relationships. When both people accept the match, they get to break the ice through structured games, conversations and interactive activities, creating a more natural and comfortable way to meet than a traditional messaging inbox.
The philosophy behind Salonat is simple: the people who know us best are often the best positioned to introduce us to new people. By participating in shared salon activities, conversations, and games within their salon, members reveal more about their personalities, interests, and values. This allows friends and eventually intelligent recommendation systems to make introductions that are more thoughtful, compatible, and likely to develop into meaningful relationships.
How it works
Your salon is your virtual social 3D space where you can:
- Invite your friends to your salon.
- Mix and Match is what Salonat is all about! You mix and match your friends with each other. This just means you swipe through all your friends and then when you feel like you’ve found two people that you think might vibe, you match them. You then choose what type of match it is whether it’s romantic, platonic or professional and describe why you matched them. And boom! Match sent!
- Furnish your salon in whatever style you want, put on some funky music, play games, make it just the right vibe… I mean it is your very own space where you invite and host your friends. If you’re wondering why you need to furnish, it’s because as the wise old saying goes… "law msh gahez tefresh teb2a msh gahez tetgawez" wala te3zem sohabak wala te3mel ay haga as a matter of fact!
If you match two of your friends, they both get notifications that you matched them but they wouldn’t know who you matched them with. If they both accept this anonymous match, they can start playing icebreaker games with each other.
Throughout this process, you, as the person that matched them, can track the progress of this match: Did they accept? Did they start playing? Did they finish all four rounds of the icebreakers games and reveal their identities to each other?
The reason you can track the matches you have created in your salon is because we believe that our social experiences should be fun shared experiences and it’s funner when we’re all invested in each other’s lives.
If a friend matches you with someone in their salon, you get to play icebreaker games with them. You have to accept without knowing the other person’s identity, and through the four rounds of icebreaker games, their identity is slowly revealed to you.
If both of you or one of you doesn’t accept (Ewww don’t do that! Accepting is very much encouraged please accept), no icebreaker games are played and your match’s identity is never revealed to you and your identity is never revealed to them.
Icebreaker games are 4 rounds of very simple games you get to play with your match. Every round of the 4 rounds, something about the other person is revealed.
- 1st Round: their first name.
- 2nd Round: your mutual friend’s impression and why they think you would vibe.
- 3rd Round: voice notes (because someone’s voice and how they speak can tell us so much!)
- 4th Round: their full profile is unlocked!
There’s other fun stuff on Salonat such as daily salon activities: little prompts, questions, live salon chat, hot takes, and trivia that you just have to come and see for yourself.
